An Ornithopter is a bird shaped flying toy made from sticks and paper and wires. They flap like birds and use the beating of the wings to fly. It is a fun weekend project and cheap to make.
Now, there are battery powered ornithopters using electric motors too, but the first models were all simple ones powered by rubber bands.
