Mobile phones have become a part of modern life and so much information is stored on these devices. But as people have started carrying these everywhere, the chance of these getting wet and damaged is more and more.

Fix water damaged cellphones with rice or silica gel

First and foremost tip : DO NOT turn the device ON immediately.
This can short out the electronics of the device.

FIRST, we dry the device and THEN we see if it is working or not.

• Take the phone out of the water as soon as possible. Ports for hands free kit, tiny hole for microphone, charging, usb cable connectivity and the plastic covers on cell phones even though tight can freely allow water to enter the phone in a just a few seconds of time. Grab your phone quickly, and turn it off immediately, as leaving it on can cause it to short circuit – if it has been in water, assume it is waterlogged whether it is still working or not.

• Your phone may not be too damaged if you take it out of the water right away. A longer period of immersion, such as being in the washing machine cycle, is more cause for alarm. It is still worth trying the following steps to attempt saving the phone, before giving up.
• If the phone is connected to a wall charger and is also submerged in water, do not attempt to remove it from the water. Seek a professional immediately to ask the proper steps to do this safely (as in turning off a main power switch, or similar action). Electricity and water do not mix and can result in electrical shock. However, if your phone was NOT connected to a wall charger but fell into water, remove the phone from the water as quickly as possible, and proceed with the next few steps.
• Acting quickly can make all the difference in being able to save your phone from water damage, however don't panic. Maintaining a level head is key to working more efficiently under pressure.

Android M is Milkshake - 6.0 revealed today at Google I/O today - Milkshake not Muffins/Mango/Marshmallow/Macaroon

While many Android folks are still using devices based on Ice Cream Sandwich and Jellybean, some on KitKat and a few on Lollipop, Google has today released a Developer edition of Android M.

What does M in Android M stand for ?

There is still no official word on what the M is going to stand for.

But the latest rumor is that it will be Milkshake.
Here's a photo from Google I/O showing an Android Wear watch worn on stage by Google's vice president of engineering, Dave Burke, clearly showed a picture of a glass of milkshake as he demonstrated features during the conference. He even fiddled with the device a few times, almost deliberately drawing attention to it.

Clues to Android M being Milkshake

Previously the name was suspected be Milkshake/Muffins/Marshmallow/Macaroon/Mango or even brand names like Mentos/M&Ms like Google did with Kit-Kat.

How to add my Orkut friends to Facebook - bonus fb emoticons

Orkut was THE popular social-network in India till a few weeks back. Everybody in school and college had to have an orkut profile to be cool till a year back.

Now that status has been taken over by facebook. And rightly so, because facebook, though riddled with privacy problems, is much more entertaining than orkut. This is not only because of the hugely popular and infamous games like Mafia Wars, Farmville, Fishville, Youville, Cafe World, and other Zynga creations, but also by the status updates and the comments and like and pokes and all sorts of TMI (Too Much Information) being highly entertaining by itself.

Earlier, it was very easy to add your orkut freinds to facebook, but just choosing the import orkut friends feature on facebbok, or the CSV file list of freinds downloaded from Orkut.

But Google knowingly or unknowingly(yeah, right) blocked this feature.

So right now, here is how you can import your orkut friends to facebook.

Connect Orkut with Facebook

Step 1: Drag the Facebook bookmarklet ( <-- this link) on to the favorites/bookmarks bar of your browser.

Step 2: Login to your Orkut account and click the bookmarklet button. OR you can click here.

Then Facebook Friend Finder tool will start scanning your Orkut contacts list and it will show you a subset who are also on Facebook. Then Click “Add Friends”. All it is done.

Also, you can use this same friend finder bookmarklet for connecting Rediff contacts.

Now that Google has released Cadie into the wild wild web, it is time to rethink our definition of who or what is human.

Now, the standard AI (Artificial Intelligence) test is the Turing test where you have to convince a human examiner that you are human.

But Henlein has a definition which would appeal to a lot of us. Here it is

Who is Funda Arar ?

Well do you want to know who is Funda Arar ? Well, here she is - A Turskish singer from Istanbul, Turkey.

She was born in Ankara and spent the early part of her childhood there,and the later part of it in Muğla and Adapazarı. She studied at Istanbul Technical University's music conservatory, specializing in the mandolin.

She is not related to the word funda - meaning a fundamental truth which hits you with a brainwave and you think that it is the most wonderful idea ever seen. But more about her, if you please.

Being a singer, she obviously had lots of famous albums,and her first album Sevgilerde, came out in 2000 and became a big hit, especially the song "Aysel".

Sevgiliye was released a year later and included hits like "Seni Düşünürüm" and "Cesminaz" in collaboration with Kıraç.

Alagül and Sevda Yanığı, her third and fourth albums came out in 2002 and 2003 which had the songs "Haberin Var mı?", "Aşksız Kal".

Arar's newest album Son Dans, was released in March 2006 following a long break.
